Creighton Baseball Falls in Series Opener at St. Johns, 10-3

Queens, N.Y. -- Creighton Baseball suffered a 10-3 loss in the series opening game at St. John's on May 1. The loss moved the Bluejays to 25-18 on the season and 10-3 in BIG EAST play. St. John's climbed to 22-25 overall and 10-3 in conference contests after Friday.

Creighton took an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Isaac Wachsmann in the second, but a sun ball helped the Red Storm push across five in the bottom of the third. St. John's went on to build a 9-1 edge, before Ben North launched another Bluejay solo home run. 

The Bluejays' final tally came in the ninth as Nick Venteicher drove home Teddy Deters with an RBI single through the left side.

Red Storm starter Liam O'Leary earned the win (6-3), holding Creighton to one run on three hits in six innings, tossing 110 pitches. Creighton starter Jack Pineau took the loss (6-2), allowing nine runs on nine hits in 5.1 frames.

The Bluejays and Red Storm continue the three-game set on Saturday, May 2 at 1:00 pm (CT).
