Brief Narrative: James Cervantes was contacted in the YMCA as he had an active Hall County Arrest Warrant. James was taken into custody without further incident.

Offense: Weapons Offense Incident # L26073472
Person Involved: Richard Holmes, Grand Island
Date and Time Reported: 7/30/26 10:18 am
Location of Incident: W 2nd Street
Brief Narrative: Officers called to the GI Public Library reference a black male drinking alcohol and possibly rolling a marijuana cigarette. Officers arrived and contacted Richard Holmes, whom they know from previous contacts. Richard attempts to hide a hand rolled cigarette, which later found to be marijuana. More marijuana was found in his possession. Richard also had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and had a clear McDonalds cup filled with beer. He even admitted it was beer. During a search of his bag, officers located a large cutlery style knife. The cutting edge on this knife was well over 3.5 inches. A criminal history check of Richard found that he is a FELON. Richard was placed under arrest and transported to HCC.

Victim: Best Buy

Location of Incident: W 13th Street
Brief Narrative: The General Manager reported an unknown male and female to have entered Best Buy, on 07/25/2026, as they presented digital proof of a fraudulent transaction, which resulted in a Best Buy employee unknowingly giving two Apple iPads to the couple who did not pay for the merchandise. The case is still under investigation.

Brief Narrative: An engagement ring was reported to be stolen from Hotworx.
