GIPR to Host MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department is inviting local youth to take part in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run program, which is a free, one-day skills competition for boys and girls ages 7-14.

The event will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the Webb Road Fields. Participants will compete in age divisions of 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 in both baseball and softball categories.

MLB Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, designed to provide young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their abilities in pitching, hitting and running. Athletes are evaluated and scored in each of the three areas, with top performers advancing through multiple levels of competition. Advancement opportunities include Team Championships held at MLB stadiums, with finalists earning the chance to compete at the National Finals during the MLB World Series. Select participants may also earn an all-expenses-paid trip, along with a parent or guardian, to attend and compete at the World Series.

Registration is free and available online at giparks.com/mlbphr. For more information, please contact Grand Island Parks & Recreation at (308) 389-0290.
