Man Dies of Gunshot Would in Hall County

On June 6, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residence in Cairo, Nebraska, for a report of an individual with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male of Cairo. He was transported to Grand Island Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicates the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The Hall County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident. Also assisting at the scene were the Cairo Volunteer Fire Department and Grand Island Ambulance.
Investigators do not believe there is any currant threat to public safety. The Hall County Attorney's Office has ordered an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified.
