Cincinnati, Ohio -- Despite a pair of solo home runs from Isaac Wachsmann in his return to Hayden Field, Creighton Baseball fell 3-2 on Friday, May 15 to Xavier. The loss evened the series, moving Creighton to 29-23 on the season and 13-7 in BIG EAST games. Xavier climbed to 26-28 overall and 14-6 in league action.

Wachsmann put the Bluejays in front 1-0 with a home run onto the street beyond left field in the opening frame. Xavier's Luke Hammond answered with a solo home run in the second, then the Musketeers took advantage of a Creighton fielding error to grab a 2-1 edge in the third.

Locked in a pitcher's duel, the game remained 2-1 until the top of the eighth when Wachsmann launched another bomb into the street in left.

Xavier countered with a run on a walk on two hits in the eighth to take the game.

Bluejay reliever Shane Curtin took the loss (0-4), allowing one run on two hits and a walk in one inning. Xavier bullpen arm Garrett Helsel earned the win (4-2) with 2.2 innings of one-run ball.

The two teams will collide on Saturday, May 16 at 12 pm in the final regular season game for each squad.
