Project Connect to Bring Free Essential Services to Grand Island Residents on October 22

Hope Harbor

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Project Connect will return to Grand Island on Thursday, October 22, 2026, bringing together community organizations, service providers, and volunteers to offer free, same-day services to individuals and families throughout the area.

Designed to remove barriers to accessing essential resources, Project Connect provides a convenient, one-stop opportunity for community members to receive services and connect with organizations that can offer additional support.

Attendees will have access to a variety of free services, including medical and dental care, housing assistance, legal services, veterans' resources, haircuts, vision and foot care, health screenings, and more.

While the event is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing homelessness, financial instability, food insecurity, or other challenges, Project Connect is free and open to everyone.

“Project Connect is a powerful example of what can happen when organizations across our community come together with a shared purpose,” said Kendra Lutz, Executive Director of Hope Harbor. “By bringing essential services together in one location, we can help eliminate barriers, connect people with resources, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.”

Transportation assistance will be available, with buses running a continuous route between the event and designated stops at the Salvation Army, Centennial Towers, and the VA Medical Center until 2:00 p.m. Additionally, shuttle transportation will be available from Project Connect to St. Leo's annual coat giveaway, providing attendees with an opportunity to access warm clothing ahead of the winter months.

Project Connect is made possible through the collaboration of local organizations, businesses, service providers, and volunteers committed to ensuring that individuals in our community have access to the resources and support they need.
